Social Dancing Lessons

Social dances are the types of dances that you may see at a nightclub, wedding, Christmas party, on a cruise, etc. The most common include the Swing, Shag, Salsa, Waltz, Cha Cha, Rumba and FoxTrot. A person that can comfortably dance these will rarely find themselves sitting a dance out!

Students wishing to learn to dance socially usually pick from the American Smooth or Rhythm styles of dance (see below). Extra dances like the Hustle, West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Argentine Tango, or Salsa are also very popular in social settings!

Competitive Dancing Instruction

If you want to be a really good dancer... then dances like the Samba, Paso Doble, Jive, Viennese Waltz and Quickstep are the ones for you! Competitive dancing demands a higher degree of skill and technique. However, our extensive competitive dance experience allows us to get most DanceSport Carolina students ready for their first competition 3-6 months after their first lesson!

Our competitive dance students generally choose one or two of these styles of ballroom dance: International Standard, International Latin, American Smooth, American Rhythm.
