Our fearless leader, Thomas has been a professional latin and ballroom competitor and instructor since the age of seventeen. Shortly after moving to Charlotte from Boston, MA in 2004, Thomas opened DanceSport Carolina!
Thomas attends most competitions in the area where he continues to compete in both Professional and Pro/Am divisions.
Elizabeth Augenstein

Elizabeth is one of the most sought after female instructors on the east coast! Her extensive dance backround began with competitive ballet which she has done since the age of 6. Elizabeth began training in ballroom and latin at the age of 14 and quickly began competeing as an amatuer. Soon thereafter, her professional dance career took off! She as won numerous competitions and teacher awards. Elizabeth currently competes professionally in the American Style Smooth and Rhythm categories. In addition, she trains and competes with her students in the Pro/Am division. She also coaches several amatuer competitive couples.
Kristin Galindo
Kristin, a native Texan, is an accomplished professional latin and ballroom dancer. She has over 20 years of dance experience to her name and has danced and competed across the United States.
In addition to pursuing her professional dance career, she teaches both competitive and social dance at our studio.
Steven Freinstein
Steven became a professional ballroom & latin instructor at the age of sixteen! In addition to teaching at DanceSport Carolina, he actively pursues his competitive dance career as well.
He will be competing in several local, regional, and national ballroom & latin competitions this year!
Kate Zhuchkova
Prior to coming to the United States and pursuing her professional dance career, Kate trained and competed in Russia. She began competeing with an amateur partner from the time she was eight. Over the next seven years, they competed together in Russia and Europe.
Tony Kantin
Dancing club-style latin as a teenager sparked a passion in him that he turned into a very successful amateur competitive career in international style ballroom and latin dancing. As his successes began to accumulate, Tony sought out a career as a professional competitor and instructor.
